I really like this 2 cd boxed set .I love old REM up till Out Of Time after that they never made a great album again but always had some great songs.this best of has a lot of great album songs from Murmur till Automatic From The People.the other later singles are on the other best of cd's or greatest hits that have been released.if you love early REM only like me then you will enjoy this set!

IRS will forever be the label that started this band off and were able to put out a compilation but if you weren't able to AFFORD let alone CATCH on the THAT idea, it's put onto THIS compilation in 2 discs apiece. That's what seems to be the "standout", imo, on why ANY musical input after the song apex of "Losing my Religion" is evident after putting out 2 PHYSICAL comps like Eponymous and In Time: The Best of R.E.M. 1988–2003. The rock music scene for this band would just go downhill of using the musical backdrop used from the 80s era as the focus (Explains songs omitted from Automatic for the People • Monster • New Adventures in Hi-Fi • Up eras). This comp deserves a listen, tho, because it's using the musical input done from an INDIE label point of view in mutual of using a MAJOR label as its backing, in result of THIS post-breakup comp. It will forever be reminded of how CLEVER the song titles were "emphasized" in the overlooked 80s ROCK era aka COLLEGE rock/JANGLE pop pioneers :-)

Two CDs worth to me seems to be a bit much, after they left IRS for Warner Brothers the ideas seemed to get a bit thin.
