An interesting premise, but The Darwin Elevator failed to grab me. I kept wishing for more depth to the story.

An original and thrilling post-apocalyptic story. Having read the two subsequent books in the Dire Earth Cycle trilogy, this author's debut novel is a must-read. Even better, all three books in this series were published simultaneously, meaning that you don't have to wait years to read the remainder of the story.

This first book is the best of the trilogy. The series is action-packed and has a really interesting premise, but unfortunately Hough fails to pull off a satisfactory conclusion.

Interesting book with good character development. Some was predictable, but much was fresh. A different apocalyptic setting than usual with different villains, strategies and resources.

A great series that is a great science fiction read. Hard to put down.

Only the ending of the "dire earth cycle" is weak; the rest is well crafted

I am looking forward to the next installment in this series. The good guys and bad guys are pretty black and white but I really want to find out what is really going on with the aliens.
