In the final moments of The Gypsy King , a truth was revealed to Persephone and Azriel--one that could change everything forever. For her. For him. For them. For the entire kingdom.

But the Regent Mordecai has them trapped and he wants them dead so that the truth will die with them. He is a heartbeat from seeing it done when Azriel boldly bargains: release them and they will seek Genezing. Mordecai agrees but warns that if they do not return with proof that the pool exists, he'll make those dearest to them suffer--and he'll start with King Finnius.

Persephone has never needed Azriel's teasing warmth more, but she is finding out there is a price to pay for having broken past promises. Together, they set off on a journey that will take them to the farthest corners of the kingdom. Danger will ever lie ahead and behind them; they will battle men and beasts alike. Will Persephone and Azriel survive these perils? And will this quest see their romance grow cold--or will it burn hotter than ever?

I really enjoyed how nicely the first book flowed into the second! Persephone and Azriel are just so nicely written that they feel realistic in nature. The relationships in this book are not forced at all, unlike some other books I have read. Here, the adventure seems to reach outwards for the protagonist, as a lot more background has been filled in for the characters. The scenes may be more specific, but are also somewhat unpredictable. I am very glad that my friend recommended me this whole series. Usually, sequels aren't as good as the original, primary novels, but this book was an exception. 4.5/5 stars

The quest that Azriel, Persephone and co. embarked on was very entertaining to read. Though the court politics seemed a bit simple and the romance lacking, I breezed through the story and enjoyed reading it a lot.

Very similar to first book; different story line, same story, if that makes sense.

*spoilers*
It kind of surprises me that antagonist's plans actually work and that protagonists don't try to fight back against him and give him what he wants. They seem so strong and willful but they fall to his will very easily.
