An odd little book that accurately captures the nature of how communities function in the big city, thanks to the ignorance of one little girl's desire to feed the birds. Rather than going on any kind of adventure or testing different solutions to solve the pigeon problem, though, the answer is just handed to the little girl and the problem is magically solved until she decides she wants to obsess with a new animal instead. Nothing learned and a little too verbose for kids to get a laugh out of.

You too will coo with delight at this delightful picture book by James Sage and brilliantly illustrated by Pierre Pratt. When Swanda and her behemoth faithful dog Waldo move to the big city, she befriends a multitude of pigeons much to her neighbors dismay. Pratt's illustrations are so vibrant with fantastic energetic line composition. The zoomed-in perspective of the pigeons cooing immerses the reader in the moment. There's another famous pigeon we all love (who wants to stay up late, eat a hot dog and drive a bus) but this flock is not to be missed. *Miss Kitty's reviews focus primarily on illustration*
