This book isnÆt only a guide to beekeeping or a honey cookbook; itÆs both. No other book on the market provides an in-depth review of beekeeping and what honey is good for and how to use it.

Beautifully illustrated, The Backyard Beekeeper is perfect for the health conscious person who wants to sweeten up their life by saying no to processed sugars and yes, to eating organic, natural healthy food.

This book is the complete "honey bee" resource with general information on bees, a how-to guide to the art of bee keeping and how to set up, care for and harvest your own hives, as well as tons of fun facts and projects that are bee related. The second half of the book is the complete guide to honey. It reviews the different types of honey, health effects as well as provides 100s of ideas and recipes for using honey in recipes, cosmetically in facemasks and shampoos, and for medicinal uses.

Agree with other comments. It is a very good book for beginner to intermediate.
Gives a good overview of all the topics related to beekeeping. The content is very good, introducing most of what you need to know to get started at understanding honey bees.
The book certainly is not limited to the "backyard" as the title implies. Everything in the book applies to the general health care and support of honey bee colonies whether beekeeper has one hive or thousands.
It is a good book to start with to get a sense for how in depth and complex that competent beekeeping really is.

This is a very good book for any beekeeper, especially new-bees.

Mr Flottum has a good way of keeping things simple and to the point.

lots of photographs and images to give you an idea of what he is referring to.

The print for this book is extremely hard to read, and I have young eyes and no issues with the printed word. I feel that there probably is much useful information, if only I could decipher it. Have they published a 'large-print' format yet?
