Quite possibly the best book on nutrition ever made. It's an incredibly interesting read and I would recommend it for anyone interested in weight loss or human health.

An excellent read. EXTREMELY informative and helpful. He is all about the Science and studies and does not let personal opinion sway his advice in any way. He keeps it light while injecting witty humour throughout and gives you a practical way to utilize the research he discusses. He dives deep into what makes us sick and what can improve and even reverse disease and obesity. He starts the book by giving a history of food and where it has come from and even how industry picks music, shelf height and other methods to make you buy their processed garbage. RECOMMEND HIGHLY <3 If you're struggling, don't blame yourself; just know we are programmed to eat as much calorically dense food as possible and industry manipulates this instinct. Great read! A whole food plant based diet allowed me to lose weight and balance my hormones so it's worth it. Happy Reading<3

Dr. Michael Greger provides a comprehensive review of the most recent health literature. Unlike many in the multi-billion dollar diet industry, he does not have an agenda to sell you his products or services. His website, www.NutritionFacts.org provides a ton of valuable information as well. The proceeds from both the book and the web site are donated to charity. He takes a very scientific approach in his review and analysis of studies and provides his recommendations given the most current research.

The key takeaway is that a whole-foods plant-based diet is the best option for your overall health and longevity.

The book itself is very long and goes into a tremendous amount of detail (likely too much for many people). If you are interested in the research and/or debunking many of the myths or confusion regarding health, you may be very interested in it. It also gets into many of the conflict of interests that studies funded by Big Food have led to. If you "follow the money", you can see how many studies cited are rather dubious and do not stand up to proper scientific scrutiny. Like the tobacco industry decades ago, seeding doubt and confusion in the minds of the public about the health hazards of smoking was part of their playbook. That same playbook is at use today by Big Food. Quite simply, they are in business to make a profit and many of the most profitable foods are unhealthy.

Overall, this is an excellent book and highly recommended, however it is a lengthy read. If you are looking for the immediate action plan, you can download Dr. Greger's Daily Dozen app for your smart phone, which provides his recommendations or you can visit www.NutritionFacts.org to review his videos on any specific areas of concern for you.

To your health.

Everyone today is an "expert" on health, food, diet etc etc. People read ONE single article on a fad diet, and all of a sudden they are nutritional experts.... and they are 99% of the time wrong. Michael Greger presents Facts, truths and PEER Reviewed, double blind, placebo tested analyses of actual studies and tests that PROVE that a whole food plant based diet is the healthiest for humans. You may not want to agree with it, but the science and the EVIDENCE Based information is there clear for anyone to understand and read. Take care of your life and health... move away from sickness and disease. Follow Michael in his books and at his incredible site www.nutritionfacts.org here you will get the Facts... nothing but the facts.

Though this book is quite thick, I was amazed by how engaging it is. Dr. Greger's writing quickly captured my attention and drew me in, no matter where in the book I started reading. (And it was hard to NOT jump all around with so many fascinating subtitles and subsections throughout the book.) The review explanation and synthesis of such a wide and broad array of the published scientific literature relevant to human nutrition and health is breathtaking. I think he outdid even his last book -- How Not to Die.
