A true story from Raina Telgemeier, the #1 New York Times bestselling, multiple Eisner Award-winning author of Smile , Sisters , Drama , and Ghosts !

Raina wakes up one night with a terrible upset stomach. Her mom has one, too, so it's probably just a bug. Raina eventually returns to school, where she's dealing with the usual highs and lows: friends, not-friends, and classmates who think the school year is just one long gross-out session. It soon becomes clear that Raina's tummy trouble isn't going away... and it coincides with her worries about food, school, and changing friendships. What's going on?

Raina Telgemeier once again brings us a thoughtful, charming, and funny true story about growing up and gathering the courage to face -- and conquer -- her fears.

This is a highly recommended excellent and quick read that introduces the ideas of stress and therapy and puberty and middle school friendships through characters that readers already know and trust from Raina Telgemeier's earlier autobiographical graphic novels. I appreciated it as a grown up, and as a parent, and I bought it for my kids. Worth reading and worth putting into the hands of all the kids.

We all should have been so lucky as to grow up with books like these. Encourage your kid to read 'em all if they haven't. Any chapter book you make them read instead will probably be worse.

I found this to be a super interesting read -- Raina has a stomach bug that then morphs into a lot of anxiety-fueled stomach issues and also a phobia of vomiting (thus worsening the anxiety, turning it all into a vicious cycle). It's such a specific and unusual experience that it made for fascinating reading, and the art, as always, was excellent. Kids will no doubt tear through this just as quickly as they have all of her other books.
