I liked it more than I thought I would.

A most engaging riff on Hamlet. Writing and acting both very good - production based on the famous Millais painting even better. Only the music by Steven Price let us down - a childish rhyme repeated ad nauseam rather than a great, sweeping symphonic sound. The costume genius was quite right to dress protagonist in peacock blue to set off her long, fiery red tresses. Swell to see a stronger, nobler Hamlet than we're used to. Ralph Fiennes so far leads the charge as the best Hamlet, but give this one the actual play and we'll see what he can do. David Tenant - ugh. Good delivery but such an ugly, little elfin man.

The trailer looks really good. I hope the movie itself is so.

Based on the novel, "Opehlia", by Lisa Klein, this retelliing of the tale finds Ophelia as a key role, strong and feminist, in the story of Hamlet.
The language has been modernized, and the acting is top notch by very talented actors.
I like the Shakespearean version, but this rendition is brilliant. The production design is pure art, with references to the paintings by preRaphaelite artists in Ophelia's hair and costumes.

Good movie, great sets and costumes. Interesting take on Hamlet from a different vantage that both modernizes it and explains away the superstitious/fantastic elements of the original classic.

So...again I was fooled to think this would not be an R rated film formerly and now PG-13. What? Therefore did not view it very far in, not finishing it--that's right...not finishing it... BOOOOO!
