This book is worth reading by anyone of any age who is interested in taking better care of their body and mind. The goal is to improve health span during one’s life span. A well-known, American neuroscientist who teaches at McGill University, Levitin writes in an easy-to-understand, but comprehensive manner about the latest discoveries in brain and body health and function. He covers diet, exercise, sociability, personality, and cognition while debunking some commonly held beliefs. He describes the changes we undergo as we age, many of which are quite positive. The author is also a noted musician and uses many anecdotes from working with famous people as examples of working productively well into one’s eighties and nineties. At the end, he provides a short list of actions that we can all do to improve our health span. We are all aging, but we can approach our senior years with a positive and proactive mindset.
