This book had a lot of action, it shows how police see their jobs and do their work. Why I enjoy it, being in Scotland, shows how much we are alike and not alike (yet) in class and drug culture in the present and past. We need to appreciation the men and women who struggle with the public, laws, and job stress in law enforcement.

Shockingly bad story. No real tension or action. All about white color crime with a mildly dark side. I hope Rankin's later books are better. I'm not sure they could be worse. The PBS series is MUCH better.
