Young and beautiful actress Ann Darrow is from the world of 1930s vaudeville, who is down on her luck. She meets Carl Denham, an over-ambitious filmmaker, who brings her on an exploratory expedition to Skull Island where she finds compassion and the true meaning of humanity with an ape named Kong. Together, beauty and beast finally meet their fate in New York, where the filmmaker has taken and displayed the ape in the quest of finding his fame by using commercial exploitation which ultimately leads to catastrophe, including the man who falls in love with Ann and plays an unlikely hero by trying to save her from Kong and her destiny.

Peter Jackson makes long movies and this is no exception. He's dreamed of making this film since he was 9 years old and the love is there. It's a tour de force. Everything is top notch. My only complaint is that it's too long. Way too long by at least half an hour (it's over 3 hours as it is). Perhaps it's my age, but I felt the battle scenes and chase scenes just went on and on an on and on and on. They were amazing and beautifully done. It was just too much in the same sense that Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom didn't know when to quit sometimes. That all said, it is definitely a brilliant film and a must-see --- especially if you've seen the original 1933 movie. Tons of nifty stuff in the special features section. This 2005 edition is a truer remake of the 1933 version than the 1976 or 2017 versions. The 2017 film Kong: Skull Island is impressive in its effects but is hollow in story which is loosely based on the 1933 version but excessively violent and often stupid to the point of madness.

Awesome effects,.. and the extra 38 minutes, makes this "Deluxe' version well worth a second viewing. Over three hours and twenty minutes of popcorn powered guilty pleasure!!

It takes some time for this movie to get going if your looking for King Kong. I was. But this DELUXE EXTENDED EDITION is worth it. I really enjoyed the "insect pit". The scene is filled with all kinds of creepy, slimy, yucky insects attacking the men while this music, which is perfect for this scene, is playing. This film is a must for HomeTheater Lovers. It's packed with great sound effects from Dinosaurs, planes, cars, and machine guns. Plus there's Kong!! The incredible sounds of him growling are great!!! The visual effects for Kong are amazing. I won't knock the beginning, but i give this movie 4 stars. Very large barbeque spare ribs, fried potato spuds with the skin on them, corn, and a very large can of Arizona ice tea.

This remake is much better than the 1970's remake, And I liked that one. Kong looks more realistic, as do the other creatures., (even the dinosaurs). Maybe Peter Jackson should think about remaking Jurassic Park. And i liked how the entire movie played homage to original, even taking lines from it, as well as coping scene ideas. Bravo. made me actually go out an buy my own copy, something that the library dvd's haven't made me want to do in a long time.
