Atwood pens the story of two women isolated as a genetically engineered plague destroys mankind. Both women have been members of God's Gardeners, an eco-cult that has long prophesied retribution for society's apathy and selfishness, and while they wait for signs of life from the outside they spend their days remembering past loves and not-quite-healed wounds.

I marvel at the mind of MA. I did not try to figure out or make great leaps of understanding over this. Just kind of go with the story. Excellent readers kept be interested. Lovely singing voice of who is it?

An interesting dystopian novel with environmental, religious, devaluing of women and end-of-world themes told from the perspective of two women of different generations.

This is better than the book (which I have not read) but there is music in this cd and speeches which cannot be done as well in a book format. This is one of the best audiobooks I have ever heard. A very timely subject and perhaps a little too close to reality.

The ending was somewhat dissatisfying - no real conclusion.
