Sixteen-year old living with dysfunctional family is also bullied at school.

Page is quite good. The movie is par for the course as regards desperate teen films.

Director goes overboard with screen fragmentation, which is pretty distracting.

This movie is really of the rack. Extremely low budget (I mean camcorder budget). Now adays, anyone can make a movie, so cheap without a producer. Yes, I'm sad to say, that this is a Canadian film. I fast forward the whole movie, hoping it would actually come to life. I truly believe that the film makers were on acid, while creating this movie.

Too fragmented to follow!!

Fantastic and novel approach to telling the tale of one angry young woman’s downward spiral. Eschewing a linear approach the director instead bombards us with a literal collage of split screens and overlapping dialogue, some of it objective reality, some completely subjective. The result is immediate and feel the story as well as observe it. One of the most realistic portrayals of a hyperactive teenage mind ever shown on a screen. Some may find the onslaught both disorienting and vertiginous but I found it exhilarating.

I too began watching this movie with trepidations because of the fragmented screen. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to follow the story, but I gave it my full attention (maybe that was "joseph's" problem, as he seems to think Tracey lost her brother on the bus!) and thought it was a great story, heartbreaking for sure, but worth it. Ellen Page is great, and so are the lesser known character actors in the film. Nice to see Winnipeg!

A fascinating film. A very unusual style of presentation - Fragments is the right word for it. A bit hard to watch because of the multiple images being presented at the same time. I'm also not sure I got all the details as there is so much to focus on at once at some points - but the film was utterly absorbing. I suppose it would be worth watching again - perhaps after reading the book it is based on. I am now convinced that Ellen Page is going to have a stellar career as an actress!

Skip It - Tracey Fragments, The (2007) 77 min. Experimental film with Ellen Page, playing Tracey Berkowitz who loses her 9-year old brother on the bus. The “fragments” aspect of the title refers to her emotional breakdown throughout this dreary film of Tracey and the fact that the scenes show multiple-angled shots at the same time. Tiresome and dull from the beginning with no heart to sustain interest.
