Okay, so jogging through Central Park after midnight wasn't a bright idea. But Margrit Knight never thought she'd encounter a dark new world filled with magical beings--not to mention a dying woman and a mysterious stranger with blood on his hands. Her logical, lawyer instincts told her it couldn't all be real--but she could hardly deny what she'd seen...and touched.

The mystery man, Alban, was a gargoyle. One of the fabled Old Races who had hidden their existence for centuries. Now he was a murder suspect, and he needed Margrit's help to take the heat off him and find the real killer. And as the dead pile up, it's a race against the sunrise to clear Alban's name and keep them both alive....

Enjoyed this book, a welcome use of overlooked fantasy characters, nice segue from vampires, elves, werewolves, etc.

This urban fantasy set in New York City combines complex characters with an intriguing plot to weave an engaging story of fast-paced adventure and impossible romance. Fans of C.E. Murphy's other stories will recognize her knack for borrowing ancient mythological elements from many cultures and integrating them seamlessly into the hiding places of contemporary civilization.

Interesting read, a little different with 5 Old Races and 1 Human as main characters. The heroine uses her lawyer skills to negotiate between races. Small potential for a future romance, maybe.

A lawyer who tries to fit in a world that is not hers and a good cast of characters.
A mystery in the supernatural not to miss.
