A finely tuned parody of the old Frankenstein movies, in which Wilder returns to the old country to clear his family name.

I liked this comedy spoof on this DVD. It was funny how they presented Frankenstein's story. It is a typical Mel Brooks movie.

Gene Wilder really made this movie comedic gold.

“It’s pronounced ‘Fronkensteen.’ ” It's hard to go wrong with Gene Wilder.

One of the truly great sublime comedies of all time. I watched it in conjunction with the 1931 original featuring Boris Karloff as the monster. Cool Fact: The lab equipment in Young Frankenstein is the same equipment used in the original feature!

As fresh as it was the day it was released.

So much to love about what I consider to be Gene Wilder's best movie ever. I still laugh in all the same places. Many of these actors are gone now, making it even more of a treasure.

I honestly think this is the best film either Gene Wilder or Mel Brooks ever did, not diminishing their other work at all; I just believe there is something almost magical happening with this film. There is so much heart and humor, yet with a clear love of the original that they are parodying. Everyone turned in a fine performance. It is a true classic.

The comedy in this is ageless; filmed in black and white, the innuendos never stop flying. Mel Brooks is at his best- I enjoy so many of his other films, but this one is his masterpiece. Pure delight. Look for the cameo by Gene Hackman as the "blind man."

I have such fond memories of watching this movie with my dad when I was about 8 or 10. There was plenty of humor for me, even though I didn't get a lot of the double entendre lines as a kid. I really enjoyed watching the documentary and the deleted scenes where you see them cracking each other up trying to make it through a scene. Love, love, love Gene Wilder in this role!

Brilliant and hilarious, with inspired performances from a great cast and absolutely perfect in glorious black and white, just like the horror films it spoofs.
After "Young Frankenstein" you will never again watch the original James Whale classics with a straight face. Trust me, I've tried. Perhaps the ultimate Gene Wilder-Mel Brooks cinema partnership.

Fron-kon-steen: "Now that brain that you gave me. Was it Hans Delbruk's?" Eyegor: "No." Fron-kon-steen: "Ahh. Would you mind telling me whose brain I did put in?" Eye-gor: "And you won't be angry?" Fron-kon-steen: "I will not be angry." Eye-gor: "Abby...someone." Fron-kon-steen: "Abby someone. Abby who??" Eye-gor: "Abby...normal." Fron-kon-steen: "Abby normal." Eye-gor: "I'm almost sure that was the name." Fron-kon-steen: (chuckles) "Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a 7-&-a-half-foot long, 54-inch wide...(begins strangling Eye-gor) GORILLA?????? Is that what you're telling me?????"
